Jason Plato on pole for second Oulton Park race

Oulton Park race one winner Jason Plato will also start the second encounter of the day on pole position after setting fastest lap en route to the chequered flag, with Gordon Shedden joining him on the front row.

Plato added fastest lap to his domination of the first race, with Honda Racing Team’s Shedden impressing to take second despite carrying maximum ballast, ending just 0.069 behind.

Eurotech Racing’s Jeff Smith will start a season’s best sixth, despite only finishing 19th in the first race, with Team BMR’s Aron Smith, West Surrey Racing’s Rob Collard and Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan completing the top 10.

Following a difficult opening race, reigning champion Colin Turkington will start down on the seventh row in 13th position.
