Nicolas Hamilton: “I don’t feel I have anything to prove”

BTCC debutant Nicolas Hamilton said it was “mission accomplished” in first practice at Croft, and says he feels he doesn’t have to prove anything in his maiden weekend in the series.

The AmD Tuning driver completed 20 laps in his Audi S3 this morning, ending the session 26th fastest and just over five seconds off the ultimate pace.

Hamilton is now looking to learn more as the day and the weekend progresses.

“It was mission accomplished in terms of achieving what we want to achieve as that is the longest I’ve spent in the car and it was all about doing as many as laps as we could. It’s only the fifth time I’ve been in the car and the first time I have been here for four years and it’s all about learning this weekend – the results aren’t important,” he said.

“I don’t feel I have anything to prove this weekend as being here is an achievement in itself and its all about developing as a driver. This is a big test session and if I’m last in every race then so be it. It’s more important for me to learn as much as I can rather than push too hard and end up in the gravel.”
