Dick Bennetts celebrates first 1-2-3 for West Surrey Racing
A delighted Dick Bennetts was beaming after race one at Croft, after seeing his drivers Andy Priaulx, Sam Tordoff and Rob Collard net a first-ever 1-2-3 finish in the BTCC for his team.
The New Zealander said the team made the most of one of their strongest circuits, and is hopeful of applying what they learnt on both compounds of tyre in the remaining two races.
“It’s the sort of thing you dream of. It’s been up and down a bit this year with the regulation changes, but we’ve been working hard on the car and made a few changes,” said Bennetts to TouringCarTimes.
“Croft, as we know from Colin in the past, is one of our best tracks – if not the best one. Rob did a good job with softs in that race too, so it bodes well for Sam and Andy later in the day.”
Asked about the team’s prospects for races two and three, Bennetts added: “It’s subject to the North Yorkshire weather, I think! But we will make a few changes now based on what we learnt in that one.
“That will help when we go soft with Sam and Andy, and also for Rob when he goes onto the control tyres we have the two setups from Andy and Sam.”
