Colin Turkington delighted after scoring Snetterton double
Colin Turkington was delighted to do the double at Snetterton as he cruised to another victory around the 3-mile Norfolk circuit.
In almost a mirror image of his performance in race one, Turkington drove a lights-to-flag victory, despite carrying the full 75kgs of success ballast, as the field behind him all tripped over each other on the first lap.
“Super day, great to win twice, especially with the full weight,” Turkington said. “I had a very good car in that race as well, chassis wise. We’re understanding now what to do with the car when we have weight in, weight out, soft tyre or medium tyre, all moving forward.”
Turkington will start race three from sixth on the grid after the smallest possible reverse grid draw, but the reigning champion played down any talk of a potential hat-trick in the third encounter, despite being the most comfortable he’s felt in the car all year.
“You can never be too confident in this series, its easy to be fast but you’ve got to get past, i’ll try to go forward but I’m sure there’ll be guys in front of my on soft tyres who’ll be rapid but I’ll give it my best shot. Wins breed confidence, I certainly feel more confident with the car and it helps me make the right moves.”
