Honda dominate Free Practice 1 in sunny Scotland
Honda dominated the first free practice session at a dry, warm Knockhill, taking the first two spots on the timesheets and separated by just five thousandths of a second.
Gordon Shedden was the best of the bunch, posting a time of 52.267, with Matt Neal just 0.005 seconds back in the second Honda Civic Type R.
Mat Jackson had held the top spot in his Motorbase Performance Ford Focus for the majority of the session before the two Hondas pushed him back to third. Jackson held third until the chequered flag, which was thrown slightly early because of a red flag for a stricken car.
The Mercedes A Class of Adam Morgan took the fourth best time, ahead of Sam Tordoff, the first of the rear-wheel-drive cars, who were expected to have an advantage around the tight Knockhill circuit.
Andrew Jordan, Andy Priaulx, Rob Collard, Rob Austin and Aiden Moffat, who has been cleared to race at his home circuit after his concussion at Snetterton, rounded out the top ten.
An immensely close session saw the top ten only separated by 0.381 seconds, while the top 21 cars were separated by less than a second.
