Mat Jackson hopeful practice pace can continue

Mat Jackson was pleased with the performance of his Motorbase Ford Focus, stating that they were right on track with their plans for the weekend.

Jackson set the third fastest time in the first session, followed by the fourth fastest in free practice two, although the Ford driver was quick to play down any talk of promising pace when compared to that of his rivals.

“We need to see what everyone does in quali,” Jackson told TouringCarTimes. “We don’t know what their gameplan is. From ours the cars seems like its got some pace, hopefully we can carry that through to qualifying.”

Despite making a solid return to the series at Snetterton, Jackson said the team was disappointed and want to make a return to where they feel they belong at the Scottish circuit.

“Snetterton was frustrating because we felt we’d show better than what we did,” Jackson continued. “Ultimately we came out with some half decent results but it would’ve been nicer to be where we felt we should. We made some changes with the car that probably weren’t needed.

“Because we’re late in to the championship there’s a few things that have changed we didn’t really give it the forethought that we expected it would be that big. It put us on the back foot a but but we’ve come to Knockhill with a bit more knowledge to where it is and we’re just playing catchup to the other guys.”
