Jason Plato given verbal warning for contact with Hunter Abbott

Team BMR’s Jason Plato has been given a verbal warning for an incident in race two at Rockingham involving Rob Austin Racing’s Hunter Abbott and West Surrey Racing’s Rob Collard.

Plato made contact with Abbott’s Audi A4 at Pif Paf on lap nine which spun him around in front of Collard’s BMW 125i. Collard clipped the rear of the Audi in avoidance and went off into the grass, while Plato was able to get ahead of Abbott and carry on to finish seventh and limit the damage in the championship, which is now lead by Honda Yuasa Racing’s Gordon Shedden.

The stewards awarded Plato a verbal warning for the incident. When Plato racks up three in succession, he will be handed a grid penalty and go to the back of the grid.

For the third race of the day, Plato starts from fourth courtesy of the reverse top ten grid, with championship leader and race two winner Shedden starting tenth.
