Nine penalties handed out over Rockingham weekend
Nine penalties were handed out after the weekend’s action at Rockingham, including seven for racing incidents, one pitlane penalty and one engine change.
In the first race, Support Our Paras Racing’s Derek Palmer Jr was given a verbal warning for contact with JWT Performance’s Stewart Lines, while Power Maxed Racing’s Dave Newsham was given a 2.5s time penalty for gaining an unfair advantage in his battle with Motorbase Performance’s James Cole.
In race two, Team BMR’s Jason Plato was given a verbal warning for contact with Rob Austin Racing’s Hunter Abbott, which caused the Audi A4 and West Surrey Racing’s Rob Collard to spin.
West Surrey Racing’s Nick Foster was given a verbal warning for contact with Newsham at Deene in the second race, while Speedworks Motorsport’s Tom Ingram was given a £500 fine and three penalty points for contact with Team BMR’s Aron Smith.
In the final race, both Eurotech Racing’s Jeff Smith and Team BMR’s Warren Scott were given verbal warnings, although the incidents they were for are unclear.
In the teams’ championship, Tony Gilham Racing were deducted a further 20 points for another engine change on Kieran Gallagher’s Toyota Avensis, this time switching to the TOCA motor.
Finally, championship leader Gordon Shedden was penalised four spots on the grid for a qualifying infringement on Saturday in his Honda Yuasa Racing Civic Type-R.
No action was taken against Hunter Abbott for his crash with Aiden Moffat in the final race, as the incident was due to a puncture.
