Mat Jackson dominates second Silverstone practice
Mat Jackson once again topped the Silverstone time sheets as he dominated the second practice session.
Continuing his strong pace from the morning’s session, Jackson posted a time just four hundredths away from Jason Plato’s 2014 pole position time, having consistently improved throughout the 40 minute session.
Jack Goff was the closest challenger to Jackson, only 0.053 behind the Ford Focus driver, while Colin Turkington was only 0.067 further behind Goff’s MG6.
Josh Cook also impressed once again, with a 58.704 good enough for fourth behind Jackson, Goff and Turkington, while Tom Ingram, Aron Smith, Gordon Shedden and Andrew Jordan were all within a tenth of Cook’s Power Maxed Racing Chevrolet Cruze.
The top 23 cars were all separated by less than a second, and only six cars lapping the Silverstone National Circuit in over 60 seconds.
Jason Plato could only manage 11th in FP2, having also struggled down in 15th in FP1, although the two-time champion insists he has not yet shown his full pace. Meanwhile, the West Surrey Racing BMW trio of Sam Tordoff, Andy Priaulx and Rob Collard having to settle for 13th, 15th and 17th respectively.
