Handy Motorsport to unveil “proven race winner” at Autosport International
Handy Motorsport will unveil its new-for-2016 car and driver lineup at the Autosport International Show on Thursday (14th January).
Team principal Simon Belcher said the team will be announcing a ‘proven race winner’ in the newly built car, while there are still plans to run a two-car effort with the 2015 Toyota Avensis, potentially driven by Belcher or an experienced competitor if the team can successfully acquire a second TOCA BTCC Licence (TBL).
“Everyone has been working so hard behind the scenes to get our 2016 plans to the position they’re at now, this week is when we can finally go public,” said Belcher. “It really is an incredibly exciting time for Handy Motorsport, we’ve enjoyed two fantastic years in the BTCC and now we’ve gained a foothold the time is right to turn things up a notch.
“We’re very excited to be competing with a newly built car this year, but the biggest development is bringing in a proven winner to lead our challenge. We’re confident, when the unveiling takes place, there will be a lot of happy faces among our fantastic fans, and fans of the BTCC in general.”
The unveiling of the new car and driver are scheduled for 10am on Thursday 14th January at the Autosport International Show at the Birmingham NEC.
