Sun greets teams for second day of Thruxton test
Bright, sunny and cold conditions greeted the BTCC teams taking part in the second day of the pre-season winter test at Thruxton.
Seven touring cars took to the Hampshire circuit today, including reigning champion Gordon Shedden in the Honda Yuasa Racing Civic Type-R.
Shedden was the only representative from the factory Honda team, with Matt Neal not present, but he was joined on track by three other Civics – the Speedworks Motorsport entry of rookie Matt Simpson, and the Eurotech Racing pair of Jeff Smith and Martin Depper.
At West Surrey Racing, Sam Tordoff and Rob Collard shared Jack Goff’s BMW 125i M-Sport after the team’s new boy carried out all the testing miles on day one.
Completing the line-up were two Ford Focus STs – Motorbase Performance’s Andrew Jordan and Team Parker Racing’s Alex Martin.
Jordan had a brief off during one of the sessions, damaging the sump on his car and curtailing his running for the rest of the day. Martin also had a sideways moment in the sister Focus but was able to recover to the pits.
