Triple Eight Racing sign Josh Cook and Ashley Sutton for 2016

Josh Cook and Ashley Sutton will race for Triple Eight Racing in the upcoming British Touring Car Championship season.

The team, who in December announced a new three-year works deal with MG, stated they were looking to create a “young and up-and-coming line up” following the departures of both Andrew Jordan and Jack Goff to Motorbase Performance and West Surrey Racing respectively.

Cook made a name for himself in his debut year with a number of impressive performances behind the wheel of the Power Maxed Racing Chevrolet Cruze in 2015, taking a best result of third at Rockingham.

Cook’s arrival at Triple Eight confirms one remaining seat at Power Maxed Racing alongside Hunter Abbott for 2016, with Dave Newsham also leaving the team’s BTCC outfit, switching to compete in the British Rallycross Championship under the Power Maxed Racing banner.

Sutton will also be familiar to BTCC fans, taking the 2015 Renault Clio Cup UK title with Team BMR, winning six races en route to the trophy. The signing of the outgoing Clio champion is further evidence of an affiliation between Triple Eight Racing and Team BMR, with the two teams now sharing a workshop in Hertfordshire.
