Tom Ingram leaves it late to top Oulton Park FP2
Speedworks Toyota driver Tom Ingram once again left it late to top the time sheets in practice, while Team BMR showed front-running pace for the first time this season.
As was the case in the first session, Team BKR’s Aron Smith set the pace for the majority of the 40 minute practice in the ex-Team BMR Volkswagen CC, before Gordon Shedden and Tom Ingram put in late laps, and the only times below the 1:26 barrier, to push Smith down to third at the chequered flag.
Ingram’s time, a 1:25.858, was less than a tenth faster than Gordon Shedden’s Honda Civic Type-R, with the top 16 positions all within one second of each other.
Josh Cook took the Triple Eight Racing MG6 to fourth in the timesheets, ahead of the West Surrey Racing duo of Jack Goff and Sam Tordoff, while Cook’s team-mate Ashley Sutton set the ninth fastest times.
The new works Subaru project of Team BMR finally started to show front-running pace, despite being down on straight line speed, with Jason Plato and Colin Turkington setting the seventh and eighth fastest times respectively. Rob Austin rounded out the top ten in the Handy Motorsport Toyota Avensis.
