Daniel Lloyd fastest in second practice at Croft for Eurotech Racing
Eurotech Racing’s Daniel Lloyd was fastest of all in the second and final practice session for the British Touring Car Championship at Croft, leading the way in his Honda Civic Type R ahead of the Speedworks Toyota Avensis of Tom Ingram and the Motorbase Ford Focus of Andrew Jordan.
Lloyd’s best time of 1:24.511 came in the final five minutes of the session, dropping Ingram’s Toyota to second, who had only just moved ahead of the West Surrey Racing BMW of points leader Sam Tordoff with ten minutes left on the clock.
“It was a good run,” said Lloyd. “We put new tyres on right at the end there. I knew we’d have quick overall pace, but there’s still some more to come.”
Tordoff finished the session fourth in the BMW, while Warren Scott emerged as the fastest of the Team BMR Subaru Levorg GTs in fifth, just under four-tenths of a second from Lloyd, with his two championship winning team-mates Jason Plato and Colin Turkington sixth and seventh.
Rob Austin finished the session in eighth position in the Handy Motorsport-run Toyota Avensis, with Hunter Abbott putting the Power Maxed Racing Chevrolet Cruze in ninth, with Jack Goff completing the top ten in the West Surrey Racing BMW 125i M Sport.
The Ciceley Racing Mercedes which had shown good pace in FP1 were 11th and 21st in FP2, with Adam Morgan the fastest for the team, while the Team Dynamics Hondas of Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden also found themselves outside of the top ten, with Neal 13th and Shedden 17th.
Several drivers were given warnings for exceeding track limits, including Speedworks’ Matt Simpson and Team BKR’s Aron Smith, while AmD Tuning’s Ollie Jackson was black flagged for repeated offences.
Next up is qualifying at 16:00 BST.
