Hard tyre choices announced for Croft races

The tyre choices for today’s races at Croft have been confirmed, with drivers having to nominate which race they opt to run the hard tyre this weekend at the North Yorkshire circuit ahead of qualifying, with the bulk of the field opting to run the tyre in the third and final race, where rain has been forecast.

Front-runners Rob Collard and Matt Neal, driving for West Surrey Racing BMW and Team Dynamics Honda respectively and were coincidentally involved in an incident in qualifying which saw them qualify in the midfield, have opted to run the hard tyre in the first race, meaning should the rain not arrive as predicted, they’ll be off strategy in Race 3 which could work to their advantage.

The same applies to West Surrey Racing’s Sam Tordoff, who many tipped for pole yesterday. The championship leader will get the hard tyre race out of the way with 75kg onboard, leaving the races where he’s likely to shift the weight to ones with the soft tyres.

Front row-sitter Daniel Lloyd has opted to run the hard tyre in Race 2 on his Eurotech Racing Honda, along with Team Dynamics’ Gordon Shedden, Triple Eight’s Ashley Sutton and Speedworks Toyota driver Tom Ingram.

All four of the Team BMR Subaru Levorgs have opted to run the hard tyre in the final race, as has West Surrey Racing’s Jack Goff, Triple Eight’s Josh Cook and the Motorbase Performance Ford Focus of Andrew Jordan.
