Snetterton tyres announced: Front-row drivers chose to start on softs
The tyre options for Snetterton have been announced, with the drivers having to have decided which race they would opt for the soft tyre ahead of qualifying on Saturday, with both Honda’s Gordon Shedden and Team BMR Subaru’s Colin Turkington having plumped for the Dunlop soft tyre for Race 1.
Three drivers were unable to choose Race 3 to run the soft tyre even ahead of qualifying, after Team BMR’s Warren Scott and Colin Turkington had already opted to run the option tyre three times this season in Race 3, as well as AmD Tuning’s Ollie Jackson.
With Speedworks’ Tom Ingram and Team BKR’s Aron Smith opting to run the soft tyres today in Race 3, both drivers have also used up all of their Race 3 option tyre allowances for the season.
The best-placed driver to run on the hard tyre for Race 1 will be Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan in third in the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, with the Toyota AVensis of Tom Ingram also on the hard tyre from fourth on the grid.
Championship leader Sam Tordoff will work through the option tyre in Race 1, while team-mates Rob Collard and Jack Goff will run the options in Races 2 and 3 respectively, with the West Surrey Racing team having split the strategy across all three of their BMW-equipped drivers.
