Team BMR boss Warren Scott: “We’re fighting for the title”
Team BMR Subaru team principal and driver Warren Scott says the Herfordshire-based squad is ready to fight for the 2016 championship, after another strong weekend for both the team and namely Colin Turkington, who with a win, a second place and sixth at Snetterton now finds himself fifth in the drivers’ standings.
The team, entered as Silverline Subaru BMR Racing this year, moved up to fourth in the team’s standings after a successful weekend, with all four of the team’s Subaru Levorg GTs finishing in the top ten in Race 1, with Turkington the race winner, Jason Plato fifth, Scott in ninth and James Cole in tenth.
“We had three good team results,” said Scott to TouringCarTimes. “It was an unfortunate day for James (Cole), he showed a lot of pace in qualifying, and we both had a good race in Race 1, but then the last two races it went downhill, but all-in-all it was a very good weekend.”
Jason Plato also had a strong weekend, with three top six finishes, just missing the podium in Race 3, and also moved up in the championship to 11th, just 13 points behind early championship leader Jack Goff.
Turkington’s run however since Oulton Park, with two poles and three victories has many in the paddock saying the two-time champion is on course to overhaul the points gap to the Team Dynamics Hondas and West Surrey Racing BMWs.
“We’re fighting for it, that’s definitely what we’re trying to do,” added Scott.
