Knockhill soft tyres announced, Jason Plato starts Race 1 on the option
The tyre options for today’s races at Knockhill have been announced, with pole-sitter Jason Plato having opted to use the soft option tyre in Race 1.
Tyres are required to be nominated before qualifying for the race day, which means the drivers are unable to allow their qualifying position influence their choice of tyre.
Seven drivers had already used up all their allocation of Race 3 use of the option tyre before today, which included Team BMR’s Colin Turkington, West Surrey Racing’s Jack Goff, Team BMR’s Warren Scott, Team BKR’s Aron Smith, AmD Tuning’s Ollie Jackson, Speedworks’ Tom Ingram and and Speedworks’ Honda driver Matt Simpson.
Only four drivers have opted to run the soft tyre in Race 3 today, notably including two regular front-runners Gordon Shedden (Honda) and Rob Collard (West Surrey Racing BMW), both of which start in the middle of the field for Race 1.
