Andrew Jordan seeks to strengthen Independents advantage
Andrew Jordan insists that he is ready to challenge for more podium finishes this weekend at Silverstone as he seeks to move closer to securing a third BTCC Independents’ championship.
The Motorbase Performance driver currently leads team-mate Mat Jackson by 17 points in the standings with six races to go, and heads into the penultimate meeting of the campaign buoyed by a podium finish at Rockingham – the first time he had finished inside the top three since winning at Thruxton.
The Pirtek-backed racer will now be keen to continue the front-running form that his Ford Focus has displayed in winning at Silverstone in three of the past four seasons, with the 27-year-old saying he was confident about his chances.
“It was great to be back where we belong on the podium at Rockingham last time out, as the results in recent events hadn’t really been a fair reflection of the pace in the car,” he said. “With that in mind, there is no reason why we can’t have a strong weekend again this weekend, as we have already seen in the past that the Focus is a car that is well suited to the Silverstone circuit.
“I’m expecting to fight at the front and to challenge for at least a podium finish or two, with a return to the top step being the ultimate aim as I look to strengthen my advantage in the Independents’ standings.
“It won’t be easy though as the racing is always very close at Silverstone and it is vital that we qualify well to give us the best chance of success on race day. It promises to be wide open and we need to be in the mix.”
