Andrew Jordan bounces back for season’s best

Andrew Jordan said he was pleased to bounce back from a challenging start to the weekend at Silverstone to secure his best qualifying result of the BTCC season to date.

Although he was able to go seventh quickest in practice at the wheel of his Ford Focus, Jordan admitted that his Motorbase team hadn’t been totally happy with the performance of his car, with changes being made ahead of the all-important qualifying session.

Those changes proved to be beneficial as the former champion posted a best time just over a tenth of a second off pole position, which proved to be good enough for fourth on the grid.

With none of the main championship contenders at the front of the grid, Jordan will now hope to push for a second win of the campaign; which in turn would help in his quest to move closer to the Independents’ title.

“It’s the best qualifying result of the season so far, so I have to be pleased with it,” he said. “This is the first weekend for a while where we haven’t been able to roll the car out and be on it from the start and we were behind a little bit in practice, but we made some changes for qualifying that worked.

“We can race from where we are on the grid and my aim is certainly to fight for victory. We’re all going to be pushing hard and none of the guys at the front have anything to lose in terms of the overall championship. The start is going to be really important and then we’ll see how things pan out from there.”
