Championship leader Sam Tordoff reprimanded for contact with team-mate in qualifying

West Surrey Racing driver Sam Tordoff was given a reprimand by the stewards after an incident with team-mate Rob Collard during qualifying at Silverstone.

Tordoff and team-mate Collard had a coming together during the 30-minute session, with Collard sustaining minor damage to the right-side of his BMW 125i MSport, while Tordoff had damage to the front-left of his car, with the two cars spinning off.

Tordoff went on to qualify 17th and Collard 25th, though both will be promoted one position because of Team BMR Subaru driver Colin Turkington’s grid penalty.

The Yorkshireman was given a verbal warning for the incident, which is the championship leader’s first infraction of the season. Collard however has been on two strikes since Thruxton earlier this season, with a third strike set to send him to the back of the grid along with other championship front runners Matt Neal and Jason Plato.
