Josh Cook pleased to see MG partner on pole
Josh Cook admitted that his own disappointment at missing out on pole at Silverstone had been offset by seeing MG partner Ash Sutton secure his place at the head of the field for a second time.
Whilst Sutton topped the times ahead of the Toyota of Tom Ingram, Cook had to settle for third place having seen both of his final two laps affected by traffic.
The time lost was enough to cost him a potential pole position at the wheel of the #66 car but the reigning Jack Sears Trophy winner said he still felt in a position to challenge on race day.
“I’m happy with third on the grid, although there was more on the table,” he said. “I was up on the times on both of my final two laps but then hit traffic which meant I couldn’t complete them and get the job done.
“I’m a bit gutted in that respect but I’m also glad that it’s Ash who has ended up on pole position. From first and third on the grid, hopefully we can work together and bring home a strong result for the team.”
