Tom Ingram expecting tough race from the front row on Sunday

Speedworks Motorsport’s Tom Ingram starts from second on the grid at Silverstone behind the MG of Ash Sutton on Sunday, missing out on his third pole by just 0.003 seconds.

Ingram’s Toyota Avensis will start wedged between the two Triple Eight MGs of Ash Sutton and Josh Cook for Race 1 tomorrow, with the 23-year-old not fretting over missing out on pole position.

“I’m more than happy with that,” said Ingram to TouringCarTimes. “It’s such a minute distance, so it’s neither here nor there to be honest. It would have been nice to have got it, but I can’t be too upset being a few thousandths off.”

The Toyota driver expects the races to be tough on Sunday, with a number of non-championship runners at the front fighting for victory, with the main title contenders further down the grid.

“It should be a close race, and I expect there will be a bit of panel bashing at the front,” he added. “It’s good there’s no guys we can screw over in the championship (with us), but I have a horrible feeling it’s going to be a hard one tomorrow.”
