Andrew Jordan not thinking about BTCC title tilt
Motorbase Performance’s Andrew Jordan says he’s not thinking about a BTCC title tilt despite closing to within 29 points of series leader Sam Tordoff with four races to go.
Jordan steered his Ford Focus ST to an impressive win in the second race, continuing a productive weekend where he qualified fourth on Saturday and maintained that position in race one.
The 2013 champion will now start the final race of the day in eighth with the maximum 75kg of weight on board.
“It’s damage limitation in race three, but to get a win is great. I knew we had the pace and potential to do it, so it was nice to see it through,” said Jordan to TouringCarTimes.
“I was just a bit concerned with the tyres because I was starting to have to look after them. Once the safety car came out I was just ‘head down, get gone’. We were doing our best laps towards the end of the race.
“Normally the safety car doesn’t help because the tyres cool down but they were fine cold. I didn’t make any mistakes and hit my markers.”
Asked if he was thinking about the championship, Jordan added: “No. We’ll see where we are at the end of the day. Anything can happen, but 29 points is within striking distance.”
