MGs excluded from Race 1 due to technical infringement, Tom Ingram wins the race

The two Triple Eight Racing MG 6s of Ash Sutton and Josh Cook have been excluded from the first race at Silverstone after both cars were found to have illegal rear wing alignments, promoting Speedworks Toyota driver Tom Ingram to first position.

The two MGs had finished the race first and second, with Sutton scoring what was his second victory of the season ahead of team-mate Josh Cook, but their subsequent exclusion also sends them to the back of the grid for Race 2 with maximum ballast, while Tom Ingram is now credited with his second career win in the championship.

The MGs exclusion means they are now both out of the mathematical hunt for the drivers’ championship, while West Surrey Racing BMW driver Sam Tordoff now extends his lead over Honda’s Matt Neal to ten points ahead of the next race.
