Ant Whorton-Eales focused on BTCC after Motorbase test
Ant Whorton-Eales says he is fully focused on making the move into the BTCC next season on the back of a successful test with Motorbase Performance.
The 22-year-old joined the Ford team for a day of testing at Snetterton as part of his prize for securing the Clio Cup UK title this year.
The test, organised by Dunlop, gave Whorton-Eales the opportunity to sample the race-winning Focus for the first time having previously run at the same circuit in a Team HARD Toyota Avensis earlier in the year.
Running alongside MINI Challenge title winner David Grady and single-seater racer Harrison Scott, Whorton-Eales was able to run through a busy programme during his time on track and admitted he was blown away by the experience.
“The Focus was absolutely spot on and the guys at Motorbase did a fantastic job,” he told TouringCarTimes. “The car was ridiculously clean and precise; everything you would expect from a top team.
“The test day went really well and the lap times were competitive, which was great considering it was my first time in the car.
“There is no doubt that I need to be on the touring car grid next season and I’m working 100% to make that happen.
“Hopefully I can get a deal done to join the grid and get the ball rolling.”
