Daniel Lloyd slams Church corner after high-speed smash at Thruxton

Triple Eight’s Daniel Lloyd has cricitised the safety at Church corner after a first lap crash in Race 2 saw his MG6 all but destroyed at Thruxton’s most famous corner.

Lloyd was collected by Senna Proctor’s Vauxhall at the corner, after being nudged by the other MG of Aron Taylor-Smith.

Lloyd then spun off and hit the barriers at speed, launching into the air, with the barrier heavily damaged, with the race being suspended behind the red flag for over an hour.

“It hurt a lot that did,” said Lloyd to ITV Sport. “Unfortunately, I was around the outside and got tagged at 120mph.

“I think it’s not right that the exit of that corner doesn’t have tyre barriers or anything to soften the blow.

“The amount of run-off there is ridiculous and the fact that it’s just a solid hit. Luckily I’m in a touring car, it’s got a roof, a roll cage, but after Donington, imagine if an F4 car went off there?”
