Colin Turkington targets third win to maintain title challenge

Colin Turkington says he is keen to challenge for a third win of the BTCC season to maintain his championship bid at Oulton Park.

Turkington took his second win of the year last time out at Thruxton to sit third in the championship standings heading into a weekend where his West Surrey Racing-run BMW is expected to be strong.

The Northern Irishman is also regarded as something of an Oulton Park master having taken no fewer than seven victories at the circuit in the past, and he admitted he was looking forward to returning to Cheshire this weekend.

“Oulton Park is my favourite circuit on the BTCC calendar by some distance. The track is just amazing and one where a driver is much more capable of making a difference than at other places, simply because of the challenge of some of the quicker corners.

“The season has started incredibly well for me and the whole team, so the aim is to keep this up and hopefully get a third win of the season to continue our championship push.

“I’m hopeful we can find that sweet spot this weekend and punch out a qualifying session that declares our intent for Sunday’s three races. It won’t be easy, but if we keep our focus and can stay out of trouble, we should be in good shape by Sunday night.”
