Andrew Jordan pleased with improved qualifying display

Andrew Jordan said he was feeling more comfortable at the wheel of his WSR-run BMW after securing a front row start for the fourth meeting of the BTCC season at Oulton Park.

Jordan was edged out of pole position by Honda’s Matt Neal but still snared his first front row start since he qualified on pole at Thruxton back in 2014.

The qualifying performance came as Jordan looks to bounce back from tough weekends at both Donington Park and Thruxton, and he admitted he felt in a good place at the end of qualifying.

“Of course I wanted to get pole position but I’m happy with second on the grid,” he said. “I think today is the best I’ve driven the car. Things have clicked nicely and I was able to relaly grab it by the scruff of the neck to take my best qualifying result for a few years.

“I feel like I’m part of the car a lot more with three meetings under my belt and that is important, as when you feel you are working as one with the car you can push that bit more.

“We’ll have to see what approach people take tomorrow with the tyres, but I certainly feel we are going into race day with a car that is capable of winning and that will be the aim. I want to come away from tomorrow having enjoyed three clean races and bagged some good points.”
