Alain Menu set to sample British Rallycross
Former BTCC champion Alain Menu is set to try his hand at rallycross with an entry into the final round of the British Championship at Croft.
Menu is set to join forces with Team BMR boss Warren Scott for the October event having expressed an interest in trying his hand at the discipline, where Scott himself is competing this season.
Scott made the decision to switch to rallycross having elected to stand down from his driving role with BMR’s BTCC programme.
Menu – who works with BMR in an advisory role – will drive a Citroen DS3 similar to the one that Scott is competing in this season with the LD Motorsports team.
“All of the BTCC drivers want to have a go in my rallycross car, but I am quite protective of it,” Scott told this weeks Motorsport News. “However, there is a chance of adding another car later in the season and Alain has said he would be quite keen to try his hand at rallycross.
“We are aiming to sort something out for him at Croft – he would be in another Citroen DS3, alongside me.
“I have loved the events I have done so far this season and the cars are stunning. It has been an eye-opener and I have had some bad luck, but the results are beginning to come now.”
Scott sits fourth in the standings having taken a best finish of second last time out at Lydden Hill.
