AmD pair hope to benefit from ‘best ever’ Audi
AmDTuning.com pair Ollie Jackson and Ant Whorton-Eales will hope to make the most of the team’s ever improving Audi S3 to challenge for points this weekend when the BTCC heads for Croft for the fifth meeting of the year.
Both driver have showed strong pace through the opening four meetings of the season but have suffered their fair share of misfortune resulting in just four points finishes so far.
Jackson in particular impressed last time out at Oulton Park, regularly setting top ten lap times on race day as he battled to his third points scoring finish of the year.
Admitting that the points on the board so far aren’t a fair reflection of the progress the team had made with the Audi this season, Jackson insisted he was keen to try and head into the summer break on a high with a strong Croft weekend.
“I think we head to Croft in the best position we’ve been in yet with the Audi,” he said. “We made a lot of changes to the car last time out at Oulton Park that were reflected in the pace we showed there, and I’m confident that we can carry that pace into the weekend ahead.
“Croft is a circuit that should suit the car and there is no reason why we can’t be right in the mix for strong points going into the summer break. The points at the moment aren’t really a fair reflection of where we stand, as we haven’t had that one single result that some of the others have had.
“Hopefully that will change this weekend and we’ll have a little more luck on our side to secure the kind of results that our pace deserves.”
Team-mate Whorton-Eales meanwhile will also hope to bring home some points after a tough run of form at both Thruxton and Oulton Park.
“Luck really hasn’t been on my side in the last few rounds, but hopefully our run of misfortune is now behind us,” he said. “Even when things haven’t gone to plan, we’ve still shown that we have a quick car and hopefully when we get to Croft, we can have a trouble-free weekend to really make the most of it.
“Ahead of the weekend we’ve been working hard to further improve the car and have made a few big changes that will hopefully improve our performance at Croft, so I’m excited about getting out on track to see what impact those changes have.”
