Motorbase confirm two cars for Snetterton

As expected, Motorbase has confirmed that it will field just two cars for the sixth round of the BTCC season this weekend at Snetterton.

Luke Davenport’s Ford Focus was written off in the accident at Croft that has ruled him out for the remainder of the season, with the team now working to build up a new car that is set to join the grid at Knockhill next month.

Although former Motorbase GT driver Rory Butcher tested with the team at Snetterton earlier this month, the identity of the driver who will race the car for the rest of the season has yet to be revealed.

Having been released from hospital, Davenport is expected to be present at Snetterton to support team-mates Mat Jackson and Martin Depper, with the team keen to build on Jackson’s victory in the final race of the weekend at Croft to again fight towards the sharp end of the grid.

“Obviously Croft was a roller coaster weekend for us with Luke’s accident and our first win of the season,” team manager Oly Collins said. “The performances were our best of the season and now that we’ve opened our winning account, the plan is to carry on in that manner.

“It’s great to see Luke recovering now and we’re all looking positively to the rest of our season.

“Snetterton holds a lot of good memories for us. We enjoyed our strongest race meeting of the season here last year, but that’s all in the past. You can’t rule anyone out this year; such is the strength of the grid and the recent test at Snetterton showed up some interesting results. It’s going to be another very close grid again this weekend.”
