Team Dynamics appeal Matt Neal’s ride height failure in qualifying

Team Dynamics have lodged an appeal with the stewards of the Snetterton race meeting, challenging Matt Neal’s ride height test failure mid-way through the session, which saw his time of 1:56.615 deleted.

The three-time champion had limited time to set a second run after the team completed checks on the car, sending him out at the end of the session, but he lost time with the yellow flags out after Matt Simpson spun in the sister Honda Civic.

Neal eventually set a time of 1:57.564, nine-tenths slower than his previous best, which will put him 23rd on the grid for the first race on Sunday. His original time would have put him fourth, splitting the Team BMR Subaru Levorg of Ash Sutton and the Speedworks Toyota Avensis of Tom Ingram.

The team confirmed they believe they have grounds for appeal as they state the ride height check was carried out incorrectly during the scrutineering check.

Gordon Shedden, championship leader, qualified in 20th, carrying 75kg of success ballast this weekend, though should Neal’s appeal be successful, he’ll be demoted one spot to 21st.
