Andrew Jordan gutted by lost victory

Andrew Jordan admitted he was gutted to have missed out on a third win of the BTCC season after a late issue whilst leading the final race of the weekend at Snetterton.

Having posted two top six finishes earlier in the day, Jordan started race three from third on the grid at the wheel of his WSR-run BMW 125i M Sport, but made light work of moving to the front of the field to lead by Agostini.

From there, the Pirtek-backed driver pulled away from the chasing pack and had established a comfortable lead over the pack behind when he suddenly slowed exiting Wilson with a suspected electrical problem on the penultimate lap.

Although the BMW fired back into life, Jordan had already dropped to the back of the field and then slowed again towards the end of the lap before he eventually brought the car to the finish down in 21st place.

“It was a done deal – we’d won that race,” he said. “Everything was going to plan and there was no warning, all of sudden the car just slowed. We’d picked up solid points in the first two races and I pulled a good move to get into the lead at the start so the job was done.

“That should have been my third win of the season and I’m gutted.”
