Jason Plato the only front-runner on hard tyres for Race 1
Knockhill pole-sitter Jason Plato has been confirmed as the only driver in the top seven to be running the Dunlop SportMaxx “prime” tyre for Race 1, with the six cars behind him starting on the soft option tyres.
Plato, in the Subaru Levorg GT, has now divided his option tyre use across all three races over the course of the season, twice option for Race 1, twice for Race 2 and twice for Race 3.
Today, Plato will run the option tyres in Race 2, while team-mate Ash Sutton, the two West Surrey Racing BMWs of Colin Turkington and Rob Collard, the Speedworks Toyota of Tom Ingram, the Subaru of James Cole and the Vauxhall of Senna Proctor behind will all start on soft tyres.
The first driver behind Plato on the prime tyres is BTC Racing’s Dave Newsham, who starts eighth in the Chevrolet Cruze, with championship leader Gordon Shedden also running on the primes on his Team Dynamics Honda Civic.
