Set-up issues hamper Andrew Jordan in Rockingham qualifying

West Surrey Racing’s Andrew Jordan had a problematic qualifying session at Rockingham, qualifying down in 18th position in his BMW 125i M Sport, two spots ahead of team-mate Rob Collard.

The Pirtek and Red Bull-backed driver explained that set-up issues hampered both he and Collard, while championship leader had better luck with a late set-up change, as he qualified up in fifth position for tomorrow’s first race.

“We just missed the balance,” said Jordan to TouringCarTimes. “The car was quite different to FP2, and we just maximised what we had but we just missed the sweet spot. Rob and I suffered the same thing; Colin had the same balance issues but made a big change at the end of the session and it made a big difference.

The 28-year-old wasn’t too downbeat about qualifying however, with the front-wheel drive cars expected to struggle over the race distance.

“It’s frustrating, but we’ll see. Tyre wear will be big around here I think – it probably won’t be as bad as last year on the front-wheel drive cars due to the new tyre, but we’ll get our heads down and see where we get to.”
