Andrew Jordan delighted with third 2017 win
Andrew Jordan admitted he was delighted to take a third win of the BTCC season after a controlled drive to victory in the final race of the weekend.
Jordan – who lost a certain win through an electrical issue at Snetterton last month – fought back well from qualifying down in 18th place in his West Surrey Racing-run BMW, working his way up the order in the first two races and then benefiting from the reverse grid to get pole for race three.
Having fought off the challenge of Adam Morgan’s Mercedes in the early stages, Jordan was able to manage the gap at the front to pick up his third win of the year – despite a late Safety car period – and now sits sixth in the championship standings with two rounds left to run this season.
“The aim going into race day was to maximise what we could,” he said. “We made good progress in race one despite being on the hard tyre and I enjoyed the battle with Rob in race two, which ultimately set up the victory.
“It was harder than I expected to get the heat into the tyres early on in race three and I struggled a bit at the start, but once I got a few lengths on the Mercedes, I knew we could do it. It was the same at the restart and once I saw the gap behind, I could take it take it steady.
“After tough weekends at Snetterton and Knockhill, this victory tastes a little bit sweeter and the whole team has done a great job this weekend.”
