Tom Ingram tops FP2 at Silverstone while three drivers are black-flagged

Tom Ingram has led the second free practice session at Silverstone, while track limits was the keyword of the session, with three drivers, including championship leader Ash Sutton, receiving black flags for repeatedly exceeding track limits.

Ingram went fastest in the last few minutes of the session in his Speedworks Toyota Avensis, the only driver to go under the 59 second barrier with a time of 58.697.

The session took place in the dry, with all drivers on slicks throughout the 40-minutes.

Brett Smith was the only notable casualty in the session, spinning off at Becketts into the gravel trap at the half-way mark just after setting the fastest lap.

There were numerous warnings handed out for track limits, with the officials deciding that Subaru driver Ash Sutton, Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan and BTC’s Dave Newsham had transgressed on too many occasions and were all black-flagged before the end of the session.

Ingram finished the session just under two-tenths ahead of the Eurotech Honda of Jack Goff, with Jake Hill third fastest in the Volkswagen CC, ahead of Rob Collard’s West Surrey Racing BMW, with Aiden Moffat completing the top five in his Mercedes A-Class.

Championship leader Ash Sutton finished 23rd, one place behind the Team Dynamics Honda of title rival Gordon Shedden, while Colin Turkington was again tenth in the WSR BMW.
