SWR completes maiden TCR run at Donington Park

Sean Walkinshaw Racing has kickstarted its preparations for the inaugural TCR UK season after completing a successful initial test at Donington Park.

SWR ran a number of drivers at the wheel of its Honda Civic Type-R during a special sampler day, with more than 370km of faultess running being reported afterwards.

Fresh from the successful test, the team has now moved on to Snetterton and will also run at Brands Hatch before the end of the week.

“It was a bloody good day,” team principal Ken Page said. “After an initial shakedown we ran various drivers in the car and they were all very happy with the pace, performance and handling. First thing there was a little bit of time on wets, then the track was a bit greasy before drying out fully for the rest of the day.

“The car ran impeccably, it’s very tunable, and there’s a lot of adjustability. TCR is a very nice concept and the championship certainly seems to be attracting a lot of interest. The car is about the same sort of pace as a GT4 car and, with sensible budgets, we’re sure the UK series is going to be very popular.”

SWR is due to field two cars in the TCR UK series alongside its ongoing sportscar programme.
