Danny Kroes signs up for the 2018 TCR Europe season in a Cupra TCR

18-year-old Dutch driver Danny Kroes has been confirmed for the full TCR Europe Touring Car Series season, driving a Cupra TCR for the Spanish PCR Sport team, pairing with the already announced Spaniard Mikel Ascona.

Kroes, who made his TCR International Series debut at Oschersleben last year, scoring points in his first race, also drove at the Zandvoort round of the TCR Benelux championship earlier in the year, partnering up with SEAT and Cupra regular Pepe Oriola, who will also be Kroes’ coach for the 2018 season.

Kroes’ programme in the 2018 TCR Europe series is his first full programme, after so far only having competed in one-off events.

“I’m really happy to drive a full season in the car,” said Kroes. “It’s much better knowing we’re going into a full season. Previously, it’s been quite a high pressure as it’s all been about the one weekend when I’ve raced, whereas now it’s a different kind of pressure, going in knowing it’s not all about one race but we’re working to a full season plan.

“I also know the car well from racing it last year at Zandvoort and Oschersleben, and it’s already proven to be a strong car. It’s last year’s Global Model Of The Year in TCR, and together with PCR Sport, who I want to thank for helping us put this programme together, I’m sure we’re going to have a fantastic season ahead.”
