Rubén Fernández steps down as TCR Europe promoter
Rubén Fernández has announced that he will step down as promoter of TCR Europe at the end of the 2026 season, bringing his two-year tenure in charge of the championship to a close.
The Spaniard took over the role ahead of the 2025 season from Paulo Ferreira, who had been responsible for promoting the championship since its launch in 2018.
“My time as TCR Europe promoter has come to an end. It’s not an easy thing to say, because these two years have meant a lot to me,” said Fernández.
“We have been through a lot together, worked incredibly hard and, most importantly, built something we can all be proud of.
“I want to sincerely thank the whole TCR Europe staff, every team, and every driver who trusted us and believed in the project. Without them, none of what we have achieved would have been possible.”
Fernández, who has also competed as a driver in several TCR championships and founded GOAT Racing, is yet to confirm his next project.
“I’m currently looking at different opportunities and looking at where the future will take me,” said Fernández.
“I don’t know exactly what comes next, but I’m sure there will be something exciting. For now, I just want to enjoy this final race of the season, spend it with the TCR Europe family and, above all, say thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.”
No information has so far been released regarding who will take over the promotion of TCR Europe for the 2027 season.
Fernández’s departure marks the second change of promoter in three years for the European touring car series, following Ferreira’s seven-season tenure between 2018 and 2024.
