Carl Boardley makes European switch
Carl Boardley has confirmed that he will make the switch to TCR Europe for the final two rounds of the 2026 season following his departure from TCR UK.
The two-time TCR UK champion quit the series citing ‘low car numbers and a lack of enjoyment‘ having returned to action this season following a year away.
Boardley will continue to campaign the Honda Civic Type R that he had been using in the UK for the upcoming events at Monza and Catalunya, with the car being run by ALM Motorsport.
It marks the first time that Boardley – who also raced previously in the BTCC – will have competed outside the UK.
“I’m massively looking forward to it, to be honest,” he said. “My love for motorsport was rekindled in 2023 and 2024 on the grid in TCR UK, and I won both of those titles back to back.
“I sat out last year due to other commitments, and then got tempted back into touring cars this year, and for me it’s going to be really exciting to race on a top class, world-level touring car grid.
“It’ll be my first time racing outside of the UK, and I’m really looking forward to the challenge. Throughout my career I’ve jumped into lots of different things and have managed to get up to speed very quickly.
“I’ve never done things by halves, so if you’re going to do something, you pick the most outrageously fast circuit on the calendar and go for it!”
