Carl Swift withdraws from Knockhill TCR UK round

The entry list for Knockhill’s round of the TCR UK series this weekend will now feature eleven cars after Carl Swift was forced to withdraw from the event.

Swift had been set to debut a new sequential gearbox in his Cupra TCR, having taken the decision to switch from the DSG unit that was fitted to the car for the season opener at Silverstone.

However, with the new gearbox only arriving on Tuesday, Swift has been unable to complete the change in time for this weekend’s meeting and will instead return to action when the series heads to Brands Hatch for the third round in early June.

Stewart Lines had already announced that he would miss Knockhill for the same reason.

“Despite best efforts and late nights, I have been unable to complete the sequential gearbox upgrade in time to get prepared for Knockhill,” Swift said. “It just arrived too late to get it installed and checked in time for this weekend.

“I’ll have it finished next week and will get testing ready for Brands Hatch.”
