Dan Lloyd happy with “good lap” which secures third straight pole

Dan Lloyd has continued his domination of the TCR UK Touring Car Championship with his third straight pole at Brands Hatch, heading out in the dying moments and going three-tenths faster than his closest challenger, the Honda of Ollie Taylor.

Lloyd’s pole position also nets him another 11 points in the drivers’ championship, and now extends his lead in the standings to 69 points over his WestCoast Racing Volkswagen team-mate Andreas Bäckman.

“The car was really hooked up after FP2 and I was really confident for qualifying, but we had some unexpected characteristics and we had to adapt it a bit,” said Lloyd to TouringCarTimes. “We managed to get it all together at the end and hook up a good lap.”

Lloyd’s second fastest lap was also faster than the rest of the field, meaning he’ll start tenth for the reversed grid Race 2, and will need to pass nine cars at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit to keep his perfect score going on race day.

“I don’t know if I can pass nine cars. I wasn’t expecting to do it at Knockhill,” he said. “I’ll just get on with my job and see what happens. We’ll concentrate on the first race first.”
