Trio pick up second strikes at Knockhill

Three drivers have moved on to two strikes for the season after the penalties for the eighth weekend of the BTCC season were revealed.

Points leader Colin Turkington picked up his second strike for the incident in race one that saw fellow BMW driver Stephen Jelley go off into the gravel, whilst Matt Simpson was penalised for the contact that put Matt Neal out of the race at the hairpin.

Both drivers received official reprimands and two penalty points on their competition licences.

After the exclusion of both Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram for failing the ride height in race two, the only other penalty came in the final race of the weekend with Rory Butcher given a reprimand for the contact with Josh Cook’s Vauxhall Astra.

Turkington, Simpson and Butcher will now be demoted to the back of the grid if they pick up another strike before the end of the season.
