Henry Ho wins the first sprint race at Ningbo
Henry Ho has taken the MacPro Racing team’s fifth consecutive sprint race victory of the 2018 TCR China Touring Car championship season at Ningbo International Speedpark, further extending his lead in the drivers’ championship.
Ho got the jump on pole-sitter Alex Hui’s Teamwork Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR at the start, but Hui quickly repassed the Honda driver to lead the opening three laps.
Hui was being chased throughout however, and lost two spots to both Ho’s Honda and the CUS Racing Volkwagen of Zhu Zhen Yu on lap three.
Macanese driver Ho and Zhu began to break away from the chasing pack. Hui briefly dropped behind both the second MacPro Honda of Kevin Tse and the Son Veng Volkswagen of Lam Kui Pui on lap five, but made moves on lap six and eight to regain the final podium position, scoring key points in the championship.
Ho went on to win the race, two seconds clear of Zhu, with Hui third.
The second race of the day is scheduled for 12:40 CST (6:40 CEST), with Teamwork Motorsport’s Sunny Wong starting from pole position.
