Alex Hui and Sunny Wong maintain TCR China endurance run

Teamwork Motorsport added to its winning run in the TCR China Touring Car Championship with a fourth successive endurance race victory in Shanghai.

Alex Hui and Sunny Wong maintained their 100 per cent record with a dominant performance on track that saw them come home well clear of the chasing pack, with a maximum score allowing the pair to close the hap to Henry Ho and Eurico De Jesus in the standings.

It was the MacPro Racing Honda of Ho that had led the race through the early stages, but it only took until the fifth lap for Wong to find a way through into the lead.

As the Honda then encountered problems that saw it slip back down the order, Wong was able to build an advantage out front and the Volkwagen Golf GTI would never be headed right through until the chequered flag.

Once Hui took over behind the wheel, he maintained a healthy lead at the front of the field to eventually take victory by more than 40 seconds.

Second spot would go to the T.A Motorsport-run Audi of Filipe de Souza and Ryan Wong, who spent much of the race running well inside the top three.

Looking well placed to secure third place, the duo instread picking up second in the final ten minutes when Wong was able to get of the Honda of De Jesus, which had battled back well from it’s earlier problems to recover through the pack.

De Jesus brought the Honda home in third spot despite slowing towards the end of the race, with the points banked ensuring that he and Ho retain a 14 point lead over Wong and Hui in the standings ahead of the season final at the Shanghai Tianma Circuit at the end of the month.

Outside the top three, Li Xue Feng and Tian Le Ying took fourth place in their Volkwagen, with the second of the MacPro Hondas and the Hexin Racing-entered Volkswagen completing the top six.
