TOCA opens tender process for BTCC’s new hybrid era

Series organiser TOCA has opened a tender process to find a supplier for the new hybrid systems that will be introduced into the BTCC in the coming years.

Plans had originally been in place for the series to bring in hybrid technology from 2022, although that date could be moved forwards a year if a number of key targets are met.

A document defining the technical, performance, system specification, servicing and commercial requirements of the new hybrid technology has been created after talks with industry experts and is now being made available to any interested parties.

Whoever secured the contract will need to produced a system that is a ‘light, cost effective, low-voltage hybrid system with proven durability’and that can run alongside the current NGTC engines.

A contract is expected to be put in place with the winning bidder in the next three months.
