Multiple reprimands after Donington Park dramas

Multiple reprimands were handed out by officials after a dramatic second weekend of the British Touring Car Championship season at Donington Park.

Five separate penalties were handed down at the circuit with a further two set to be discussed further when the series heads to Thruxton next month for the third meeting of the year.

BTC Racing’s Chris Smiley was handed a verbal reprimand for an incident in the opening race of the weekend involving Sam Tordoff, with Smiley on the wrong end of contact from Jack Goff in race two that resulted in the Team HARD driver being given a verbal warning.

Verbal warnings were also given to Jason Plato for contact with Tordoff, and to Josh Cook for the incident that saw Tom Oliphant spin at Redgate.

Former F1 racer Mark Blundell meanwhile was given an official reprimand and two penalty points for contact with Sam Osborne’s Excelr8-run MG6 GT.

An incident in the final race involving Smiley and Motorbase driver Ollie Jackson will be discussed at Thruxton, where an appeal into the incident that saw Andrew Jordan tipped into a spin by Rob Collard in race one will also dealt with after Jordan was unable to attend a hearing at the circuit.
