Dan Cammish vows to come out “all guns blazing”

Dan Cammish says he will be going “all guns blazing” in his home BTCC meeting this weekend at Croft in a bid to move up the championship pecking order.

The Team Dynamics driver secured a brace of podium finishes at Thruxton last time out having managed just a single top six finish from the opening two rounds of the campaign, and now sits eighth in the championship standings as a result.

The Leeds racer will now hope to replicate his Thruxton results during the weekend ahead and vowed to come out fighting in his quest to close to the gap to the current points leaders.

“I was over the moon coming away from Thruxton with two podiums and a sixth, the Honda Civic Type R felt solid all weekend and has put me back in the title fight,” he said. “Being from the North East, Croft is really classed as my home circuit and I’ve raced there many times.

“During the break I’ve been on holiday and I have come back well rested and up for the fight. I’ll be going all guns blazing now to keep the points tally increasing and to close the gap to the leaders.”

Team-mate Matt Neal sits fifth in the points going into round four, and the triple champion also vowed to push hard to take the fight to the rear-wheel drive cars on the grid.

“I just missed out on a podium at Croft last year and while it is a circuit that favours the rear-wheel-drive cars, I’ll be giving it my all to keep us at the head of the Manufacturers’ and Teams’ championships and to move myself up the Drivers’ standings,” he said.

“I enjoy the circuit, it certainly isn’t for the faint hearted and I’ve had a few high-speed dices through the Jim Clark Esses in previous years! After the four-week break I can’t wait to get back out racing again.”
